Ask Madelaine...How do I select a sofa?

Dear Madelaine,

I desperately need a new sofa but am confused about all the different options and terminology. How do I find something comfortable that looks great and will last?

Great question! Sofas, and upholstered furniture in general, are one of the most complicated, costly, and personal pieces in your home, so they are important to get right the first time.

While there are a lot of factors to consider, approaching each one thoughtfully will ensure that you get the right combination to meet you space, style, performance & longevity requirements, and investment.

Some of the key factors are:

  • Cushion composition

  • Spring construction

  • Back and seat styles

  • Fabric selection

To help you figure out if a piece is right for you, I've created a complimentary guide of 10 key criteria for upholstered furniture that you can download now, no strings attached.

10 Key Criteria for Upholstered Furniture Guide

Fair warning: this one gets a bit technical, but I wanted to give you something with the language and information you need to make the best choice possible.

And if that choice is "holy cow this is really complicated - Madelaine can you figure this out for me??", please do not hesitate to schedule a Complimentary Design Discovery Consultation and we can figure it out together!

Till next time…

Madelaine
